Motivational Monday with Co-Owner, Christopher Mayhall

"When you are challenged with a task that you may have never done before, do not see it as them setting you up to fail. See that task as someone has great faith in you and is giving you the opportunity to grow." - Christopher Mayhall, Co-Owner

Football Raffle with Aubreigh's Army

This fall, we teamed up with a local foundation, Aubreigh's Army. This organization raises money for research while also increasing awareness for DIPG, a rare childhood brain cancer. We provided two football tickets to the Alabama Crimson Tide versus the LSU Tigers, plus a two night hotel stay in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to raffle off to raise money for this great foundation. We greatly admire this organization and love to do everything we can to aid them in their fight.

SERVPRO Saves the Day in Satsuma, AL

Amid the chaos of COVID-19, schools all across our area have recently began in-person learning after many months of virtual classes.  As excited as everyone is to be face to face, it is full of challenges such as facemasks and social distancing. The last thing that a school needs is the hassle of water damage, yet that is exactly what happened at this educational facility in Satsuma.  We quickly responded and extracted the standing water and began the drying process with as little disruption as possible.  We were glad we were there to help and improve what could have been a very messy situation!

Vechicle Cleaning and Deodorization in Daphne, AL

Water damage doesn't just happen to buildings.  Vehicles suffer water damage more often than you might imagine.  From driving into rising waters to storms and even just inadvertently leaving the windows down on the wrong night there are a variety of ways for water to get in.  If the moisture goes unnoticed or is left untreated, there can be secondary issues such as odor.  Even a small amount of dampness in upholstery can get a foul, musty odor, especially in high humidity environments.  SERVPRO of Mobile can help!  This photo shows a job we recently performed to remove water and deodorize this SUV. We have assisted with drying and deodorization of multiple vehicles at both professional auto lots and private residences.  Let us help you!

Hurricane Sally Causes Water Damage in Spanish Fort, AL

Hurricane Sally slowly trudged her way through the Mobile and Baldwin County areas on September 20.  Moving at a snail's pace, she dumped what felt like non-stop rain over the area for days.  Between the rain and the heavy winds, many homes and business on both sides of Mobile Bay felt the impact.  The Baldwin County coast bore the brunt of the storm, but businesses inland along the bay also felt the impact.  In this photo, we are helping another commercial client in Spanish Fort, AL who had heavy roof damage due to the storm.  The damage roof allowed water to pour into their building completely flooding it.  We were glad to assist and our highly trained IICRC Certified Water Restoration Technicians quickly made it "Like it never even happened."

Night Out for Storm Team in Lake Charles, LA

After being in Lake Charles and working non-stop, nearly around the clock, our team finally got a much needed break.  It wasn't long, but they got a few hours off in the evening to clean up and go sit down for a nice meal.  Our Storm Team crews have been in Louisiana for a month now, helping victims of Hurricane Laura.  Even as Hurricane Sally impacted their own homes, they continued to push forward and focus on those needing their help.  Unfortunately, the relief crews that they were waiting on got tied up at home helping with Hurricane Sally clean up!  We are so proud of all of our dedicated Storm Team members and thankful for all of the hard work they do each day!

Protecting Contents During Fire Restoration in Mobile, AL

In this photo you can see our amazing fire team hard at work on another residential fire cleaning job.  After a small fire in this home, much of the ceiling throughout the home was covered in a thin black layer of soot.  Smooth ceilings can simply be cleaned/wiped down and repainted.  The ceilings in this home however were blown "popcorn" ceilings.  In this case, they must be scraped and then cleaned/wiped down before painting.  At SERVPRO of Mobile County, our crews have undergone extensive training in not only IICRC approved fire restoration methods, but also in the importance of protecting contents from damage in the process.  This picture shows the dining room table and chairs being carefully covered and encapsulated to ensure that it doesn't get damaged during the ceiling scraping process.

Moldy Ducts in Grand Bay, AL

When it comes to taking care of your HVAC unit, it is extremely important that you don't forget to have your ductwork cleaned regularly.  We recommend annual duct cleanings to keep your unit running in tip top condition.  Dirty air ducts can cause your unit to work harder increasing your power bill and decreasing your units efficiency.  Residual moisture in your air ducts could also lead to mildew and mold problems.  If there is mold growth present in the ducts, they could be distributed throughout your home when the unit is turned on.  At SERVPRO of Mobile County, we are always ready to help.  Give us a call today to schedule your HVAC Duct cleaning.

Storm Damage in Kansas City, MO

When it comes to water damage there are 3 categories of water depending on the amount of contaminants that may be present.  Category 1 or "clean" water, doesn't pose a health threat.  Category 2 or "grey water" has some level of contaminants present and may harmful to humans.  Category 3 or "black water" is grossly contaminated and may contain bacteria, bloodborne pathogens and chemicals.  Due to the areas flood waters flow across during a catastrophic event, they are considered Category 3 due to the contaminants they may pick up along the way.  Affected material must be removed.  Since drywall often absorbs and "wicks up" water, it must be removed.  Cuts are made at 2 feet or 4 feet depending upon the levels of the floodwaters.  In this photo, you can see the basement of a home that was damaged during the 2018 floods in Kansas City, Missouri.

Mold Issue in Eight Mile, AL

SERVPRO of Mobile County recently received a call for a home in Eight Mile that had a major mold issue pop up seemingly overnight.  After the initial inspection, our IICRC Certified Applied Microbial Remediation Technicians developed a treatment plan and went to work immediately.  Properly remediating mold can be a very involved process. Containment must be set to prevent cross contamination and air scrubbers should be set to filter spores from the air.  In this picture you can see a HEPA Air Scrubber, or negative air machine that has been set up in the customers home.  This machine filters contaminants from the air and improves air quality during the mold remediation process.

Water Damage Mitigation in Mobile, AL

When it comes to drying water damage in your home, don't trust just anyone!  Water damage mitigation isn't just about sucking up water and setting up fans.  There is a science to what we do in order to provide the best results in the most optimal time frame.  All of our technicians undergo extensive training to receive their Water Restoration Certification from the IICRC.  This means they study the "science" of drying in order to understand how  to minimize damage and maximize results.  There are specific formulas utilized to determine the number and placement of equipment.  We use a combination of dehumidifers, air movers and floor mat systems to achieve the best results and salvage materials whenever possible. Remote Presentation with Saraland, AL Chamber of Commerce

Recently, we were honored to be asked to speak to the Saraland Area Chamber of Commerce regarding COVID-19 cleaning and how we can all work together to prevent the spread. In addition to detailing our processes and services, we also discussed CDC Guidelines and how area business can better protect themselves, their employees and their customers.  Obviously, amid the new COVID-19 era of "social distancing"  the meeting looked a little different as it was held remotely via video call.  SERVPRO of Mobile County Co-Owner, T. Water Damage Throughout Home in Mobile, AL

When there is extensive water damage throughout a home, the standing water can make it's ways into cavities or be "wicked up" through the drywall.  In this scenario, it is important that the inside cavities be dried completely in order to prevent mold growth in the future.  One way in which we dry the inside of wall cavities is to carefully remove the baseboards and set up air movers so that the air flow can move throughout the wall.  It is important to make sure all materials are dried completely in order to prevent additional headaches in the future.  If you experience a water damage, contact SERVPRO of Mobile County at 251-343-0534.

Water Damaged Carpet in Semmes, AL

When you experience water damage in your home, it is critical that you call an IICRC Certified Company like SERVPRO of Mobile County to begin mitigation work as quickly as possible. The faster the process begins, the more likely that materials can be salvaged.  A common problem that occurs when carpeting is saturated is delamination.  As you can see from this picture, this is when the backing begins to separate from the carpet.  Delamination can cause bubbling or rippling.  The carpet may also begin to separate from the tack strips.  If you experience a water damage in your home, give us a call.  We guarantee that within one hour a first responder will be on-site to evaluate the damage and within one hour our crews will be there to begin the mitigation process!

Attic Leak Causes Water Damage in Mobile, AL

When a leak sprang up in the attic of this home in Mobile, AL, it created a domino effect that led to extensive water damage.  SERVPRO of Mobile County was called out and found that the water had made its way down and affected multiple walls throughout the home.  Our IICRC certified technicians quickly went to work.  We try to restore materials whenever possible, but sometimes tearing out affected areas is unavoidable. In this case, the insulation was saturated as well, so we had to remove drywall to complete the drying process.  Luckily, our team includes a Licensed Construction Services Department.  After drying was complete, we repaired the damage and made it "Like it never even happened."

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit the US, area schools were shut down for the rest of the school year.  This left many working parents trying to juggle their job and schooling their children.  With multiple children comes the need for multiple electronic devices for their online curriculum.  We appreciate how hard our team members work each day to make this company a success.  Without them, we couldn't do what we do each day and we knew we had to be Here to Help® in any way that we could.  This led to the distribution of iPads to employees that needed additional devices in their home.  Helping others isn't just a business philosophy revolving around our customers, its core value that applies to every aspect of who we are!

Mold Remediation in Mobile, AL

Often, by the time you find mold in your home or business, it has caused significant damage.  Mold likes dark damp spaces, which means it is often hard to spot and it isn't until you notice a "musty" odor that you find the elusive intruder.  Many times you may have a small water leak hidden behind a wall, in a crawlspace or under cabinets causing water damage that eventually leads to the mold issue.  Unfortunately affected materials must be completely torn out in order to follow proper remediation guidelines.  At SERVPRO of Mobile County, our IICRC Certified Applied Microbial Technicians will advise you on the best remediation plan to meet your unique needs.  Should tear out be necessary, we are also a Licensed Builder/Remodeler and we can perform all of the necessary reconstruction to make it "Like it never even happened."

A Day Like This

We have been working nonstop recently in the fight against the spread of COVID-19.  In addition to proactive cleanings, we have been cleaning, sanitizing and fogging local healthcare facilities that have been hit especially hard by the Coronavirus.  Following proper PPE standards as set by OSHA and the IICRC, our team members spend long days in hot Tyvek suits to help those in our community.  On days like that, you need food like this!  Fueling our team at the end of a long day for the next day of battle is just one small way we can say thank you for all of their hard work!

Soft Contents Cleaning System

At SERVPRO of Mobile County, we take pride in continuously expanding our service lines to meet the needs of our clients.  One such way that we do that is through our innovated soft contents cleaning system.  Our advanced Esporta washing machine can clean a variety of soft contents, from textiles to leather goods and even porcelain.  Once clean, you can't exactly throw all these items in the dryer, so we developed our own unique drying room to finish out the cleaning process.  Our solution was to build this one of a kind chamber that utilizes the same principles of drying that we use on structures after a water damage!
